about us
Established in 1985, Meridian Design Group continues to be one of the most recognized names in hair in Indianapolis. At the time the salon opened, the concept was unique. Located in a prominent north side office building, the odds seemed against the notion because it had never been done before in Indianapolis. But Joe and Sue Moore saw an opportunity to do something different. By positioning themselves in a high-end building, they would attract not only affluent clientele, but also prosperous and talented stylists – the best of the best. And that’s exactly what happened.
Two years after the Carmel salon they expanded downtown and open an equally beautiful salon in Pan Am Plaza. For twenty years, the downtown salon overlooked the “American Rink” build for the Pan American Games in 1987. In 2007 the salon moved to the ground level where it is located today. Now the salon boasts an incredible view of our city and offers a very comfortable environment for enjoying perks of city life.

joe & sue moore
Founders Joe and Sue Moore have been in the business a long time; but not long enough to have lost their passion for what they do. When the opportunity arose in 1985 to open a high-end, luxurious salon in Indianapolis Joe decided that it was time for it to happen. He wanted to create a working environment where he felt he could grow professionally and he wanted other hair stylists to enjoy the same comfort. Starting any business alone is impossible. He asked his wife Sue to help out for the first 6 months – she never left. Joe often says that if it weren’t for her, the place would have burned down years ago. Both Joe and Sue relish the fact that with such a diverse group of stylists, they have created a salon where anyone, with any background can come in and receive the treatment they deserve. The picture above was taken at the Athenaeum at the Rathskeller, downtown Indianapolis in 1991.
